  1. Marx believed that the Proletariat (working class) were always being exploited by the Bourgeoisie (wealthy/factory owners).  The ills of society were based upon the uneven distribution of wealth evident in a capitalistic society.  You have to take his comments in context with the time(s) in which they were made (early Industrial Revolution).

Thus, Marx would blame crime on the capitalistic system where there is a wide divide between the very few wealthy and the majority of poor.

However, some statements seems self-evident today; CEO's earn 100's of times more than those producing the goods...

Doe's that seem like an uneven distribution of wealth?

Consider that 40 million (over 4x the population of NYC) does not have health insurance.  Many struggle from paycheck to paycheck even in the middle class, while others exude a lifestyle that is almost perverse in it's opulence.

Robot Ken - Hitler and Mussolini were Facists, not Communists. Both hated communism.  Marx did tie crime into exploitation by the minority (wealthy) who controlled the economy and thus, created the opportunity for crime.

  2. Now, bear in mind that i am no scholar of Marxism, but I think Marx's political and economic views don't mean he didn't advocate punishment for crimes, if that's what you're asking.

Also remember that communism itself wasn't an "evil" practice, but designed to shrink the gulf between the rich and the poor. Marx's original intentions with The Communist Manifesto was to help the working class. Communism was abused by dictators like Mussolini ,Hitler and Stalin which made it revered as the "evil way of life" that Americans view it as today.

(even though hitler hated communists- National Socialists (n**i) is the prepubescent communist party, so he counts as a communist dictator in my book)

  3. Marx believed that the crime/deviance is caused by the conflict between the individual economic difficulty and societal expectations
