Karnataka 619/8d v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vidarbha-c860 302/2 (115.0 ov) - Vidarbha trail by 317 runs with 8 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
It was a slow and boring Monday at Gangothri Glades Cricket Ground, Mysore, where the fans saw only two wickets fall as the bowlers were punished by Vidarbha batsmen.
After getting smashed for 619 by Karnataka, Vidarbha ended the second day of play by posting 48 for nil and anticipated a long day ahead in order to save the match.
It was imperative for their batsmen to hold on till stumps on this batting track to give something to their fans to cheer about.
The start was not what they had hoped for, as the opening pair of FY http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ganesh-Satish-c58368 on 22 runs.
This was then followed by the wicket of Das, who perished after smacking 53 runs. By this time, Vidarbha had managed to post 93 on the board.
At this point in time, the game was in Karnataka’s favour as the bowlers were enjoying their time in the middle, while the batsmen looked a tad worried.
However, what transpired next was beyond Karnataka’s wildest imagination, as the third-wicket partnership between AV Ubarhande and SU Shrivastava proved just too good for the bowlers on this day.
The batsmen forged an unexpected resistance which went unbroken till stumps, as they led their side towards a massive score of 302.
While AV Ubarhande stayed unbeaten with a stupendous knock of 129, his partner Shrivastava stood defiant with a brave knock of 84.
The two now need to continue their batting onslaught, however, the match is now almost headed for a draw, but still they can give a beautiful show by improving their respective scores.
From Karnataka, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Mithun-c41242 and STR Binny were the only two batsmen who tasted success by grabbing a wicket each.
