Karolína Plíšková overpowers
Barbora Krejčíková in 1st round – Slovak Open 2011
Fifth seeded Slovak Karolína Plíšková surmounted wildcard entrant and compatriot Barbora Krejčíková in the first round of the Slovak Open 2011.
On indoor hard courts of the Národné Tenisové Centrum in Bratislava, Slovakia, both rivals took up the gauntlet. It took the fifth seeded Slovak only fifty two minutes to overpower her younger compatriot by thrashing her in straight sets of 6-1, 6-3 on Wednesday
the 16th of November 2011.
The match was being played at home for both the players but the fifth seeded Slovak saw a support that boosted her performance. The first set of the match saw Pliskova smash three aces and she also had geometric precision. However, Krejčíková did not smash
a single ace and instead double faulted once.
The fifth seed had a defence which was like a brick wall and didn’t allow her opponent a single breakpoint opportunity instead she managed to avail 75 percent of her breakpoints won. On the contrary, Krejčíková unable to hang in the set and soon lost the
set because of a poor return game.

bagged the opening game with almost twice as many total points won as her adversary.
Krejčíková opened the initial round of the match and both the players were successfully able to hold their respective serves. It was in the third game that Krejčíková had double faulted, mean while, Pliskova reeled two consecutive games to take a mini lead
by the end of the fourth game.
In the following three games Pliskova took a notch higher and by utilizing the break-serve-break method she outshone her adversary and clogged the opening set with a breadstick victory.
During the third set Krejčíková had pulled up her sleeves but was still unable t o muster the numbers. Nonetheless, commencing the second set was also Pliskova and this time both the players held their respective serves to place themselves on the scoreboard
at 1-1. The fifth seeded Slovak was able to capitalize on a crucial breakpoint in the fourth game and then held her serve to take a mini lead at the end of the fifth game.
In the following two games the players matched a blow for a blow and the two skilfully bagged a game each. However, Pliskova was unable to close the set in the eighth game but tactfully managed to do it in the ninth game with a hold of serve.
Fifth seeded Slovak was able to secure a spot in the second round where she will be facing Pole Paula Kania.
