Karol Beck vs Mischa Zverev – Preview: Eckental Challenger 2011
On November 2, 2011, Karol Beck (Slovakia) would play against Mischa Zverev (Germany) in the men’s singles competition at the 2011 Eckental Challenger. Ranked at the 100th place in the world, Beck won his last match
in the tournament against Michal Przysiezny (Poland) in straight sets. On the other, Zverev, ranked 275th in the world, also won a hard fought match against Conor Niland (Ireland).
Both players will be eyeing for a lead in the early parts of their match, as they are capable to maintain a lead or comeback from behind to clinch a win. Beck would be entering the match with a higher morale for his straight set
win against the Polish on October 31, 2011.
Beck, who played the first rounds of the French Open in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, will be playing for a win against Zverev who has a single’s career win/loss record of 56/83. This will be the first time both players will be meeting
each other on a tennis court as it expectation are high from both the players.
Both players, not making a mark in the Grand Slam circuit yet, are somewhat evenly matched opponents for they are trying to make a name in professional tennis.
Beck could have an upper hand in the match as he has won 32 singles matches as compared to the 12 single wins by Zverev. Beck also has been lower when it comes to losses as he has lost 23 singles matches while his German opponent
has lost 33 singles matches in his career.
Beck, who turned into a professional tennis player in 2001, would have his experience by his side as he faces Zverev on October 2, 2011.
The 24-year old German started his professional tennis career in 2006 and has been gradually increasing his form, but lacks experience as compared to his opponent. The spectators would be anticipating the German to win and enter
the next round. Zverev would also be the highlight in the match, as he would receive cheerful remarks from his home crowd.
To date, Beck has won ten Challenger finals, on the other hand, Zverev has not won any Challenger finals. The German, however, did win the doubles titles at the 2008 Gerry Weber Open and the 2006 Japan Open Tennis Championships.
As Zverev has been unsuccessful in Challenger series throughout his career, he would face some difficulty while playing against Beck on November 2, 2011.
Both players will be entering into the match after winning their respective matches earlier in the tournament, which will serve as a confident booster for them.
