Karolina Pliskova breaks apart Elena Bogdan to book a spot in the main round - Malaysian Open 2012
The emerging beauty starlet of Czech Republic, Karolina Pliskova, stumbled the Romanian age fellow, 19-years-old Elena Bogdan, in straight sets 6-1, 7-5, during the final qualifying round of the BMW Malaysian Open. She took
an hour and 12 minutes to confirm her main round entrance on Monday.
It was the second face-off between the two contestants and surprisingly the 139th ranked Czech had lost the earlier battle in the second round of the Namangan in 2010. However, she took her revenge
and qualified for the main draw of the tournament.
She started the match with a successful serve hold and raced past her opponent with a 4-0 lead; including a couple of breakpoints courtesy to an eye-startling display of forehand winners down the line and backhand cross-court
returns. m
There was no coming back from that stage for the Romanian who was already suffering from a chronic wrist injury. She was not 100 per cent at the courts and that led to her downfall. On most of the occasions, she was caught
on her heels and her shot making was limited due to pain in her wrist.
The Czech spared just a single game for her opponent before gobbling up the opening set triumph. It left a great impact and crowd was praising her superior display of all-round shots. Trailing one set down and suffering from
pain, Bogdan looked a bit bobbed down and low on confidence.
It was a different start to the second set with both players registering successful serve holds but Bogdan was again forced to come back from behind as her opponent broke her serve in the third game. She fought extremely
well to stay in the set and levelled the scores at 3-3 with a vital break serve to her name.
The scores kept progressing in a see-saw fashion before the Czech capitalized on a lose stroke from her opponent and gobbled up another breakpoint at the most decisive stages of the set.  It was the eleventh game and Pliskova
just had to hold her serve to move into the main round. She did exactly that without any trouble and joins her twin sister Kristyna in the main draw.
