Karolina Pliskova squashes Kai-Chen Chang to book a spot in the second round – Malaysian Open 2012
World number 139, Karolina Pliskova, stunned the 104th ranked Taiwanese contestant, Kai-Chen Chang, in the opening round of the BMW Malaysian Open. She crushed her in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 in a battle that lasted for
an hour and 10 minutes.
The opening set witnessed a flurry of early breakthroughs with Pliskova having a better of her opponent; winning two out of three early breakpoints and registering a lead of 3-1. Chang continued to pressurize her opponent but couldn’t
win the break back to level the scores and lost the opening set in a dismal fashion.
Pliskova won 37 points in the opening set, as compared to just 30 of her opponent and showed to the world that she is out there with one thing on her mind; victory. She is just 19-years-old but her class is already superior to
her age-fellows. She is definitely going to make a name for her in the upcoming years and probably impose threat to all the top seed contestants in every tournament.
The second set was not much different from the first one, with Pliskova handling the situation at her will; playing her favourite backhand cross-court winners and manoeuvring the ball at her choice. Chang lost a couple of early
breakthroughs in the second set and trailed 0-4 before she could register her first successful serve hold. With no more breakpoints shared between the players, the Czech starlet gobbled up the win and marched ahead to face the winner of the match between the
top seed Pole, Agnieszka Radwanska and the Uzbek starlet, Akgul Amanmuradova.
She was absolutely blistering with her forceful backhand returns in the qualifying stages of the tournament as well and she shows her class in the main round contest as well on Tuesday. Her twin sister, Kristyna Pliskova, is enjoying
a sublime run of form at the courts and defeated her opponent, Iryna Bremond, in straight sets to progress into the second round of the tournament. Both sisters are adorable and immensely talented with tennis skills. They are definitely the one who will catch
an eye of million viewers across the globe at the end of this tournament.
