Karolyi states that the officials gave the Chinese gymnastics team "an edge"?

The coordinator of the US gymnastics team, Karolyi, is accusing the Olympic officials for giving the Chinese team an edge. She claims that the Officials purposely made Alicia Sacramone wait 2 minutes in front of the balance beam so that nerves will overwhelm her and distract her. She also claims that this mistake s***w up the mentality of the entire team and indirectly blamed the Chinese officials for the US team not winning the gold.

I personally think this is ridiculous and Karolyi is just bitter and jealous.

OK OK OK, I agree that the wait time thing is a little over the top.  BUT, I think the scoring in gymanastics was bogus.  I mean how many times did you hear the announcers saying how good a performance was then the scores for execution came in really low.

Yea, it's ridiculous.  Everyone had to wait longer than usual this yr...both the men and women from every country.  

When your an Olympic athlete, you are used to competition and pressure...waiting an extra 2 minutes should not have a major effect.
