Valery Karpin has lamented Spartak’s latest defeat against Mordovia Saransk and has tipped the Russian Premier League club to either strengthen the squad or sack the manager
The fact that Spartak Moscow are struggling to find form makes Valery Karpin a worried man, who believes that the Russian Premier League club’s inconsistent form will cost them a place in Europe this season.
The Moscow-based club managed to win just two of their last seven league fixtures including a painful 1-0 defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Rostov-c39192 on the away turf. It looked like the Russian outfit has turned the tables after claiming seven
points from the next three league meetings.
However, Friday’s 2-1 defeat against Mordovia Saransk at Saransk stadium have pulled them back on the fifth spot on the league table. With only three games remaining until the end of the ongoing campaign, they are level on points
with Rubin Kazan and Kuban Krasnodar respectively.
The Myaso, meanwhile, are just four points ahead of tenth placed Lokomotiv Moscow at the moment. Karpin has urged his side to find their good old form in the remaining matches of the campaign.
“I would call it a disgrace. Why do our players, all of which can and do the right thing in the games against CSKA Moscow, Anzhi, Terek Grozny and Rubin Kazan, fade away against the teams such as Rostov and Mordovia? I see this
as a major problem. Although, I think you should ask the players. May be they can give you a better answer.”
“The saddest thing is that this is not the first time, we have dropped point against a weaker opponent. I think it's a psychological problem. Unfortunately, we do not have players with the winning mentality.” The former Real Sociedad
man was quoted as saying.
It turns out that the players and coach know how to deal with direct competitors. However, they are struggling to handle the lower half of the league table opponents. Karpin insisted that the Moscow-based club needs to shape up
the squad in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 44-year-old said that he is ready to step down should a more experienced want to try his fate at Luzhniki stadium.
