Valery Karpin has denied that Spartak Moscow are ready to sign FC Krasnodar’s striker and has explained the difficult decision to replace Unai Emery at Luzhniki stadium
News in Russian media suggested that Spartak Moscow have signed FC Krasnodar’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yura-Movsisyan-c37665 after agreeing an 8 million Euros transfer fee with the Krasnodar-based club regarding the striker’s transfer.
It was reported that the Moscow-based club stole the Armenian-American star under the noses of mega-rich Anzhi Makhachkala after offering the mercurial forward a five year contract with an expected 3.5 million Euros annual salary.
The speculations heated up when the 25-year-old striker arrived for a medical at Moscow two days ago. However, Slavoljub Muslin poured water on the proposed transfer, at that time, saying that Movsisyan went to consult a doctor
following a foot injury.
However, Muslin has now confirmed that Movsisyan is likely to leave Kuban stadium in order to join an unknown Russian Premier League club as the former Real Salt Lake player want to play for a bigger club that regularly play in
the European competitions.
Spartak’s newly appointed head coach, Valery Karpin, has rubbished the media’s claim after confirming that the Moscow-based club are not in the transfer race to sign Movsisyan, who scored 14 goals in 39 league appearances last
season.
“Negotiations with Movsisyan are not at any stage. Spartak have not conducted any negotiations with the player or the club.” The Intertoto Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Karpin, who reclaimed the managerial position at Luzhniki after replacing Unai Emery six months after his departure, wished the former coach all the very best in the near future after admitting that Emery is still a great coach
despite what happened with him at Moscow.
“For me, his resignation was a surprise because the shareholders decided to stick with Emery a week ago. But you cannot say that he's a bad coach. He tried to alter the situation but failed to establish the missing link," he concluded.
Emery, who signed a two-year contract this summer, resigned after Spartak’s humiliating 1-5 defeat against their arch rivals, Dynamo Moscow, at home.
