Valery Karpin believes that Spartak Moscow may sign two or three players during the January transfer window and has discussed the possibility of retaining the managerial role at Luzhniki stadium
With Spartak Moscow already out of the title race after a below par start to the Russian Premier League campaign, there is no wonder why the media is linking several players with the Moscow-based club during the upcoming January
transfer window.
Players such as Kuban Krasnodar’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 are reportedly linked with the move to Moscow this
winter.
As things stand, the Myaso are at the 6th spot on the league table and trailing the summit by massive 11 points.
Valery Karpin, who replaced Unai Emery following the club’s worst run to the season in almost a decade, has confirmed that the Russian outfit is likely to enter the winter transfer window in order to make necessary alterations
to the existing squad at his disposal.
However, the 43-year-old refused to name any specific player or position that needed to be strengthened after saying that he does not want to disrespect any individual or a club unless they reach an agreement.
“We have determined which position needs reinforcements but I will not mention any specific position here. We might strengthen up two to three positions during this window in particular.” The Intertoto Cup winner was quoted as
saying.
News in Russian media suggest that Karpin may prolong his stay at Luzhniki stadium as their manager following the departure of Emery should the Moscow-based club failed to hire desired candidate for the leadership role.
“This could be an option but I do not want to combine the posts as I could lose focus on each one of them. But I am not thinking about this at the moment. I am trying to figure out the problems in the team.” He concluded.
Karpin, who became the sporting director of the club after leaving the managerial hot-seat this summer, revealed that he will be glad to take the managerial role back but subsequently refused to hold two positions at a time.
