Karpin urges Spartak to win against Alania and fight for UEFA Europa League berth – Football news
Valeri Karpin has urged Spartak Moscow to win the final Russian Premier League fixture against Alania Vladikavkaz at Luzhniki stadium on Sunday if they are to play in the UEFA Europa League next season.
“What changes will I make ahead of the eve of the match against Vladikavkaz? The answer is the same: to prevent southerners win against Spartak. I think it all depends on Spartak as I see us as the most dangerous competitor in our struggle to play for the
European Cup next season,” The Intertoto Cup winner was quoted as saying.
The Myaso are managed to win their last league tie 1-0 against FC Krasnodar after a 1-1 draw against Krylia Sovetov Samara nearly ended their European dreams. As things stand, Spartak are at the fourth spot on the league table with 48 points.
However, they are only above Kuban Krasnodar in the standings after winning more games this season. The Krasnodar-based club, on the other hand, faces an uphill struggle to defeat third placed Anzhi Makhachkala in the final league meeting of the season.
Karpin, who returned to the managerial position after the Russian outfit sacked Unai Emery months after the Spanish International’s appointment in January, went on to lament the absence of injured players in the treatment room.
The 44-year-old confirmed that Emmanuel Emenike, Abdul Waris, Artem Rebrov, Nicolas Pareja and Juan Insaurralde are not likely to feature in the final game of the season after sustaining respective injuries.
“The status of some players, Movsisyan and Dzyuba in particular, is still not clear. They both felt pain in the adductor muscles. However, it is possible that they will resume training with the group on Wednesday,” he said.
However, Karpin hoped that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Artem-Dzyuba-c6682 are likely return to the starting line-ups after recovering in time for the much anticipated encounter.
Another experienced player who will watch the match from the sidelines is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aiden-McGeady-c4091; the Irish International received a seven-match ban after hitting the opposition’s player in the league tie against Mordovia Saransk earlier this month.
