Karrie Webb hopes to continue good form at Mobile Bay LPGA Classic
Karrie Webb, who won two editions of the US Women’s Open, is determined to participate in the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, slated to be played from April 26-29, at Magnolia Grove’s Crossings Course.
The Aussie star has been playing well in the current season. Although she has not won any events so far, she was able to finish tied for the15th in the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the first major event of the current season.
Moreover, finishing tied for the 12th at the LPGA Lotte Championship has been her best performance of the season. She displayed a consistent game and kept her cool throughout the four days.
Although the field at the Lotte Championship contained several competent players such as the current world number one Yani Tseng and Paula Creamer, Webb looked much better at putting.
The field of the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic is quite strong, according to the analysts. Key LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars who have confirmed their commitment to the event include Se Ri Park, Lexi Thompson, Suzann Pettersen, Christina Kim
and the defending champion Maria Hjorth.
Speaking to fans and media in her recent interview, Webb said that she is on the mend and has been trying to reshape her game. She said that she has improved her putting skills to a greater extent, and is eyeing the upcoming tournament.
Sharing her thoughts about the fearsome roster at Magnolia Grove’s Crossings Course, the Aussie said that she is not afraid to battle top-ranked players, as she is well aware of her capabilities.
She pointed towards her swing problems, saying she was troubled about not making perfect tee shots. Webb said that with rigorous practice, she has been able to fix the problem.
"It was more that I had gotten into some bad habits," said the 37-year-old.
"My swing got a little bit long, which created some downward forward movement and backing out of the golf shot. I've tried to change that up and change my move through the ball to where I'm probably making a move better than I've ever made in my entire life".
She said that she made the most her offseason, as she spent most of the time practising on the course. "I made some changes in the offseason this year, and I feel the changes are really starting to be cemented in my game".
