Karrie Webb makes it to top 20 in world rankings
Australian Karrie Webb has risen to the 19th position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings after she displayed an electrifying performance at the Evian Masters 2012, held at Evian-les-Bains, France,
last Sunday.
Webb is one of the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars who have seen increase in their world rankings at the end of the prestigious Evian Masters 2012.
The Australian golfer has jumped five spots to reach inside the top 20 after she beat most of her nearest rivals in France. Webb, who has been seeking to regain her lost charisma in professional tournaments,
has boosted her confidence after witnessing a steep rise in world rankings.
Analysts said that the 37-year-old Aussie has shown that she is still resilient enough to rattle big names in the roster. Although her performance has not been up to the mark in recent tournaments, but she
has certainly dispelled doubts about her game after what she did in France last Sunday.
Winless since her last triumph at the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup in March 2011, Webb has been trying her best to add another victory to her profile. Although she was not able to clinch a victory at the
Evian Masters 2012, she has regained her confidence to a great extent.
The veteran golfer displayed a decent performance at Evian-les-Bains, as she shot an overall score of 273 and finished tied for the second along with American Stacy Lewis. Webb amazed her fans after she posted
a 67 each in the third and fourth round.
“It was pretty humid to start the day. The sun tried to come out, and now it's just not a very pleasant day. We haven't played with any wind or any elements, so I think it made you -- you had to focus a little
bit more. It wasn't just fire away at the pins,” the star golfer said at the end of the third round.
“Amazingly it was my best round of the week, but probably not my best ball-striking day. Which is just crazy about golf. Really hit it nicely the first two days and didn't make many putts”.
