Karrie Webb reaches Royal Melbourne to participate in Women's Australian Open
Karrie Webb has reached Melbourne, after a vacation, to play at the Women’s Australian Open at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia.
The 37-year-old Australian professional golf player has been the most successful among all her counterparts. She boasts a tremendous career, with plenty of impressive victories and awards.
Playing on one of the best courses of Australia will increase her level of interest and keep her motivated to move ahead.
In the past, she showed her first ever appearance at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in 1991 as an amateur. She was 16 years old then.
She does not like following a trend famous in the United States where women like to play on resort courses.
According to Webb, resort courses are not that competitive nor do they improve one’s game. “We don't play enough quality golf courses,” she said.
“Even in the US, apart from the US Open, we don't play the famous courses. The British [Open] has improved in the past few years, but to play Royal Melbourne, especially the composite course, it's fantastic. I hope the players who come realise how lucky
we are,” Webb added.
She is a leading star of Australia. Her career is awash with many remarkable victories.
Webb won 52 total professional events in her career and among them, 38 are on the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour.
Similarly, 11 wins are on ALPG, 3 on LPGA of Japan and 4 at others. She is also renowned for finishing 7 major tournaments on the first position.
It was 1999 when she won a debut major tournament and since then, till 2006, she displayed amazing performances in almost all the events that she participated in.
Webb is regarded as the best on the course. Her appearance at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club will increase the level of competition. All the other players will have to face tough strokes from her side.
To secure a lead over her, a bogey-free scorecard may help. However, it will be very difficult for others and the only chance available is to give a best shot so that tough competition can be minimised.
Similarly, the Women’s Australian Open is one of the most famous tournaments. Winning here is every player's dream.
The glory is not an easy one to achieve. One has to perform phenomenally and has to score well throughout the tournament.
