Karthick vs Dhoni in Test?

Question

If Karthick does well in this test series, would dhoni lose his spot in test.

Moreover Karthick can also open the innings for india, therefore, if india wants to play 5 bowlers, then india can drop Gambhir and Go with Karthick at the top, giving india a stronger and much more balanced bowling lineup.

India can't afford to drop Ghambhir because if Ghambhir and Sehwag give a solid start, the middle order batsmen will be able to play worry free and put on a hugh score. Dhoni is a better choice than Karthik any day but he is not available for the series so we talk about Karthik but Karthik is a temporary fix and  can not be the first choice in the squad.

I don't think Dhoni will loose the spot becoz BCCI is planning to make him the full-time captain of India after the retirement of Anil Kumble from tests... So Dhoni can never loose the spot in the test team, but i agree that Karthik has better average than Dhoni in Tests.

Yes, Karthik is better than Dhoni in Tests so it will be better to give him chance to settle in tests.

While Karthik is a better wicket-keeper, as far as batting is concerned, he is not at all consistent.  Since Dhoni is being tipped as future test captain, if Karthik has to replace Dhoni is test, he has to perform exceptionally well in both batting and keeping.

In Test, Karthick is much better than Dhoni. Better temperament, and better technique. But as I would always say, Dhoni will find his place in the test team, unless he is proven totally useless.

I think Karthik has a better then Dhoni when it comes to techniqe. In test i'll always prefer Karthik as he gives a added advantage by openning the batting.

Also he has good average.

i agree that karthik has got  good technique and temperament but dhoni is classic.he moulds himself according to the match.he has great adaptability.moreover according to the present form of gambhir there is no chance of dropping him.

i dont think you can drop Dhoni ..but having Karthik as a specialist batsman might be a good idea   ..as i think he is good a cricketer
