Karun Chandhok, Narain Karthikeyan lash out at Vijay Mallya’s critique – Formula 1 news
The two Indian drivers of the sport, Karun Chandhok and Narain Karthikeyan have lashed out at Vijay Mallya’s recent critique and stated that they were never offered a test driver’s seat at Force India for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
“Against all the odds, both of us have made it to Formula One. It doesn't matter who I drive for in the Indian Grand Prix. It's just a symbolic and historic moment and one that can show aspiring young drivers what they can do with hard work and effort,”
said Karthikeyan.
Mallya recently stated that it is not his fault that the two Indian drivers of the sport do not try to go in the mid-running teams of the sport and instead sign for smaller teams like Team Lotus and Hispania Racing Team.
“As far as the existing Indian drivers in Formula One are concerned, I can only feel very sorry for them,” said Mallya.
Currently, Chandhok is driving as a test driver for Team Lotus while Karthikeyan is going through a tough time with his team, Hispania Racing Team. HRT have just switched to Daniel Ricciardo instead of Karthikeyan for the remainder of the season which is
quite disappointing for the driver.
“If you are going to criticise people, at least do it with some facts. Having never tested either Narain or myself in one of his cars, he doesn't have the facts,” said Chandhok.
None of the Indian drivers has ever been able to score some good results or make it even in the mid-running teams of the sport as a result of which, Mallya was being criticised as he has never signed an Indian driver for his team either.
Many critics also believe that since Force India have better drivers like Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta in their line up, they do not necessarily need to sign up the Indian drivers since their performance is not up to the mark.
