Karun Chandhok expected to test with GP2
Indian racing driver Karun Chandhok who became a part of Formula 1 this year with team HRT hopes to drive for another season after his debut in the sport. However, he won’t be driving a Formula 1 car this time. Karun is expected to test for GP2 team Ocean
Racing Technology (ORT) and Coloni Motorsport in the final days of testing for the GP2 Season.
Since GP2 is the only motorsport that can be compared to Formula 1, Chandhok is delighted to be a part of the sport and believes that he will learn a lot during this experience. The young Indian wants to keep his fitness level at its peak level as he hopes
to race for Formula 1 in 2011 as a full time driver for HRT.

“The guys at ORT and Coloni Motorsport are good friends of mine and with both of them having had tough seasons and underachieving to an extent, they called on my help to get more of an experienced view,” Chandhok commented.
Since the past couple of years, many drivers have joined Formula 1 after showing good results in GP2 and it seems that Formula 1 considers GP2 as the breeding ground for drivers who are willing to join Formula 1. Driving for GP2 will add more miles to Karun’s
credentials and he is hoping to increase his driving experience and understand the mechanism of various technologies.

“The objective isn't so much about chasing laptimes but more about evaluating things that could be carried over into 2011 for them. It's important to keep driving as much as possible and be race ready for the new season in 2011,” added the Indian driver.
Karun is the youngest and second Indian driver to participate in a Formula 1 season and he hopes to score better results next season.

“For me, it's a good way to learn another new Formula 1 circuit ahead of the 2011 Formula 1 World Championship and a chance to further knock off the rust after having tested the new GP2 car and Pirelli tyres at Paul Ricard in France last week,” said Karun.

Even though Karun has not confirmed his drive in Formula 1 for the 2011 Formula 1 season, he is confident that he will be able to negotiate and hopefully stay in Formula 1.
