Karun Chandhok hoping for more improvement after German GP practice sessions – Formula 1 news
Team Lotus driver Karun Chandhok will race for his team at the German Grand Prix and after the practice sessions, the driver is happy with his car’s performance and is hoping for more improvements.
“That was good day of learning. The main area I've been looking at is the brakes - we use a different material here to my previous team so I think that's why I've maybe ended up with quite a lot of square tyres today!” he said.
The team recently revealed that Jarno Trulli will be replaced by Chandhok for the German Grand Prix and since Narain Karthikeyan has not been competing for Hispania Racing Team since the last race at Silverstone, it seems that the Indian fans are going to
be quite pleased with this development.
Chandhok finished in the 20th place in the timesheets of the second free practice session while his teammate Heikki Kovalainen was more than 1.5 seconds faster than the young Indian.
However, Karun claims that he is improving and so will the car during the rest of the weekend at Nurburgring as the team is getting a hold of the car and understanding it even more.
“Over the day I improved my time from this morning by over 1.5 seconds, so I'm pleased with that, and now I'll work with the engineers to find more time and keep pushing forwards tomorrow,” said Chandhok.
Chandhok used to drive for HRT as a full season driver in 2010 but since the team did not improve much and they wanted a new drivers’ line-up, the young Indian had to leave the team after which Karthikeyan and Tonio Liuzzi joined it.
HRT, Team Lotus and Virgin Racing Team have not been able to secure a single point up until now but one has to admit that they are improving quite actively and in the 2012 Formula 1 season, we can expect at least Team Lotus to compete alongside some of the
mid-running teams of the sport.
