Karun Chandhok rejects rumours of joining Team Lotus for some promises – Formula 1 news
Team Lotus driver Karun Chandhok has recently rejected rumours that he joined the team because they made some promises to him regarding a race seat for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix which is expected to take place this year on October 30, 2011.
“The big picture is so much better now. I am strongly involved in the development of the car and have been out there for four Fridays now. Before the end of the season, I will be driving five to six Fridays. For 2012, I am looking at a potential full-time
race seat,” Chandhok told the media.
Both of the Indian drivers have literally been desperate for a race seat for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix as Narain Karthikeyan has also stated that despite the fact he is being replaced by Daniel Ricciardo since the past couple of races, he will most
probably drive for the team at the Indian Grand Prix.
Either way, it is believed that both of the Indian drivers of the sport will be given a race seat by their respective teams for the Indian Grand Prix and Chandhok claims that his contractual binding or signing with the team did not have anything to do with
the Indian Grand Prix’s race seat.
“[However] there's no deal [for India]. It's just another wrong perception like the belief that I paid to get into Lotus,” he added.
The two Indian drivers have not been able to perform up to the mark up until now in their respective Formula 1 careers as they have only driven for the back-running teams of the sport and have not been able to score good results because of that.
Vijay Mallya, the team principal of Force India claims that the two Indian drivers are just glad to be a part of Formula 1 as a result of which they are not thinking of flourishing in the sport as successful world class drivers.
