I purchased kaspersky anti virus 2009 and when I started the install it said to remove all other anti virus programs so i uninstalled avg 8 and began the install. When i start it it says to uninstall avg 8 because it conflicts but i already did that. I went through the registry and program files and couldn't find anything related to avg please help. One thing i thought of though was that during avg's uninstall i didn't click the box to remove the virus vault but i dont know how to get rid of that now

  1. Hello,

Below is a solution that I have given before to remove AVG for Kaspersky install, I have used it before and it works.

    ********************

This problem appears to afflict a lot of new comers to Kaspersky recently, please try running the avg removal tool, which can be downloaded from here:

    http://www.grisoft.com/fr.36

Also you may want to try deleting some of your registry keys left behind by avg.

To access the registry, type regedit in the run command.

(for vista type it in search then hit enter)

Now navigate to and delete the following keys IF they exist:

*remember only delete the last part of it, do not delete the main key, just the things marked avg*

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\ AVG8Uninstall

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVG

    or it may be instead

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVG8

if you see any other entry's(keys) with avg, or avg8 or similar in them in

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\ your avg key name here

    or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ your avg key name here

    DELETE THEM,

And lastly look in C:\Program Files and delete any avg folders you find.

Run a registry cleaner, ccleaner is good:http://www.ccleaner.com/download

    Also read this: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?sho...

Now restart your computer and start the installation of Kaspersky.

  6. Try use this to Uninstall program Revo Uninstalll download here http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Revo Uninstaller helps you to uninstall and remove unwanted programs installed on your computer even if you have problems uninstalling and cannot uninstall them from "Windows Add or Remove Programs" control panel applet.

Revo Uninstaller is a much faster and more powerful alternative to "Windows Add or Remove Programs" applet!
