Question:

Katana Sword?

I got a new carbon steel Katana and I was cutting some lemons with it. Afterward I cleaned off the blade with a wet paper towel. I will put polish on it later when I get some. The problem is that when I cleaned off the blade I noticed darker coloured sploches on the blade, almost like rust. My question is that when I put more polish on it, will those go away. I will show you some pictures of the blade that I uploaded to photobucket. Here they are:

remember, I cleaned the blade off with hot water, so what are these marks and how do I make them go away???

  1. kinda hard to see, but I think they might be water marks. Whenever I wash my dinner knives and let them drip-dry, I tend to find them. But don't worry, they'll go away if you polish it.

  2. The acidity of the lemons probably started to corrode the sword, not so much that it would rust obviously. The only way to get the out would be to polish it. Lemons would not be a smart thing to cut with. Or any fruit for that matter.

Next time, fill an empty milk jug with water, put the cap back on and use that to cut. or, get the foam pool noodles from walmart. They work great.

Just be sure if you use the water to clean immediately. Just eat the fruit.
