Katarina Galenic–Lucija Vlah earn glory at 4th Portuguese International Junior Championships
Croatia’s impressive shuttlers Katarina Galenic and Lucija Vlah lived up to the expectations as they played with remarkable precision and earned glory by winning Women’s Doubles title at 4th Portuguese International Junior Championships 2012 on
Sunday, December 2, in Portugal.
In the final encounter, Katarina and Lucija showed a great performance against their lower ranked compatriots Maja Pavlinic and Dorotea Sutara and easily won the battle in just 30 minutes.
The top seeded Katarina and Lucija, who stayed unbeaten in all matches in the tournament, continued their striking run on court and remained successful in claiming the title after thrashing their un-seeded rivals in straight sets with a convincing margin
on the board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Maja and Dorotea gave a good fight in the starting game of final battle but they failed to play dominating badminton when it mattered most and eventually lost the match in straight games.
In the opening game of title match, Katarina and Lucija showed an amazing aggression on court from the opening points and created pressure on their opponents.
Katarina and Lucija were quite smooth in taking the bird early and they did not face any trouble in hitting powerful shots in targeted areas of the court.
The top seeded Croatian shuttlers did not show any sign of confusion in the arena as they were in complete control of rallies until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the aggressive Katarina and Lucija remained confident on court as they continued playing attacking and positive badminton.
However, the lower ranked Maja and Dorotea also elevated their game and managed to get close until the ending points.
At this stage, Katarina and Lucija played with precision and managed to earn two consecutive points to grab the opening game with a close margin of 21-19.
In the second game, the higher ranked Katarina and Lucija played to their maximum potential and did not spare any opportunity for Maja and Dorotea to fight back in the game.
Until the one-minute break, Katarina and Lucija remained in complete control of rallies and they managed to set up a wonderful lead until the break.
After the interval, Katarina and Lucija stayed in commanding position all the way and easily wrapped up the game with a comfortable margin of 21-15.
Katarina and Lucija remained successful in winning this Women’s Doubles final battle in straight games with a superb 21-19 and 21-15 score on the board.
