Katchmore likely to dominate Childrens Hospice South-West Handicap Hurdle
Katchmore is expected to dominate proceedings in the Childrens Hospice South-West Handicap Hurdle at Exeter in England on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. The triumphant runner in the class-4 event will walk away with a cash prize of £2,599.
A total of 11 runners were initially attracted towards the event, which will start at 3:00 GMT, but Ice ´N´ Easy has been pulled out of the race, following a setback. His trainer, Peter Hedger, would have been extremely disappointed with the situation.
There will still be plenty of action in the 2 mile 1 furlong race. The final 10 entries confirmed for it are as follows: Katchmore, Buckie Boy, Dream Performance, Osgood, Drumlang, Be All Man, Bally Gunner, Marchand D´argent, Forest Rhythm and Nothing Is
Forever.
Katchmore has been a touch inconsistent since making debut in the sport, but he still managed to get the best odds for today’s race. The reason for that is his current form, which is very good at the moment.
The five-year-old gelding was victorious in his most recent outing, thus the bettors will have a lot of confidence in his abilities. Overall, he has participated in nine races over hurdles, winning a couple of them. Apart from that, he has also secured a
runner up and third place finish once in his career.
David Pipe’s trainee will be partnered by young jockey, Tom Bellamy, who has just won a single race over hurdles.
On the other hand, Dream Performance will also have the confidence of fighting for victory at Exeter today. She appears to be in good form, as her previous outing proved to be quite an impressive one.
The seven-year-old mare outclassed others, winning the race by five lengths. This was her maiden victory over hurdles. She has taken part in six of such events, but does not have a good strike rate. This might discourage the bettors from risking money on
her today.
G. C. Maundrell’s trainee will be partnered by Gerard Tumelty, who has a very poor strike rate over hurdles.
Buckie Boy, Osgood, Drumlang, Be All Man, Bally Gunner and Marchand D´argent are all decent runners and have the potential of winning today’s race at Exeter. Although the real fight is expected between the top two favourites, an upset can be caused by some
of the least favourite runners.
