Kate Halpin Frost demolishes Clodagh Dunne in Women’s Singles semi-final at Connacht U15 Open
Ireland’s aggressive shuttler Kate Halpin Frost delivered a phenomenal performance Girl’s Singles U15 semi-final when she outplayed her higher ranked challenger Clodagh Dunne at the Connacht U15 Open 2012 in Ireland, on Sunday, December 16.
The third seeded Kate, who showed incredible performance throughout the championship, continued putting up stunning show and remained successful in crushing Clodagh who was the second seed in the tournament.
Kate was in tremendous form as she played with remarkable precision and did not face any trouble in beating her lower ranked country-mate in straight sets with a completely controlled score on the board.
On the other hand, the second seeded Clodagh tried her best to play dominating badminton but she failed to create any considerable pressure on her lower ranked opponent and ultimately went down in straight games.
It was an interesting fight in the opening rallies when Kate showed attacking display of her craft in the arena.
The impressive Kate showed that she has obtained top quality skills on court and eventually successful in getting a strong position on court.
Kate did not show any sign of confusion as she remained in complete command of rallies until the one-minute break.
The confused Clodagh failed to create trouble for her rival after the mid-game interval as she lost her focus in the arena.
Kate was very calm and composed in the arena as she did not show any sign of confusion and ended up the first game with a superb margin of 21-13.
In the following game, Kate played with reasonable speed without leaving any chance for Clodagh to get a good flow.
Kate was at the best of her form and she did not face any problem in setting up a sound gap until the end of first half.
The in-form Kate was calm and composed in the arena in the final points of second set and took the second game with a sound difference of 21-17.
The impressive Kate remained in complete command of rallies and she easily ended up the winning run of her opponent in two sets with a dictating 21-13 and 21-17 score on the board.
