Katelyn Olson secures Girls 500 yard freestyle gold – High School State Championships, Wyoming
Katelyn Olson of RAW secured the title of Girls 500 yard freestyle at the High School State Championships in Gillette, Wyoming USA on Saturday, October 27.
Olson showed no mercy to her opponents in the distant freestyle discipline and transpired on the finishing wall for the title.
With her commendable efforts, Olson stayed just half a body length behind of her toughest competitor and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with a timing of 5 minutes and 33.39 seconds.
Olson was followed by Morgan Gramlich of LAN, who was 0.54 seconds slower and surfaced on the wall for silver medal by touching the wall with an effort of 5 minutes and 33.93 seconds.
Gramlich remained nearly 10 seconds ahead of Emily Schimelpfenig of LAN, who emerged on the finishing end for third position by producing a time of 5 minutes and 43.86 seconds.
The third position holder was trailed by Becca Hamilton of JAC, who stayed considerably slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the wall as fourth position holder with a timing of 5 minutes and 49.07 seconds.
Subsequently, Kiana Phelps raked the title of Girls 100 yard freestyle. Phelps, who seized gold medal of the 200m freestyle earlier, went full rampant in the 100m discipline and outperformed her opponents.
With her continuous efforts, she remained in a comfortable lead over her challengers and tapped the wall for the title with a timing of 53.71 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Hannah Chapin of BUF, who was 1.05 seconds slower and posted a time of 54.76 seconds for second position.
The second position holder was chased by Gwynaedd Howdyshell of LAN, who was 0.44 seconds slower and posted a time of 55.20 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Amanda Tracy of POW, who failed to prove her eligibility for the podium and emerged on the finishing blockade with the timing of 58.08 seconds.
In addition, the arena appreciated gruelling efforts of all participants in their exclusive events while Phelps and Olson were happy with their title claiming efforts after the event.
