Katerina Kramperova triumphs over Ksenia Gaidarzhi in round one – Antalya ITF 2012
Third seed, Katerina Kramperova from Czech Republic, stomped over the Russian wild card entrant, Ksenia Gaidarzhi, with a breadstick at the Antalya ITF 2012 on Tuesday. She jolted down a 6-4, 6-1 victory against the Russian to power into the second round
at this ITF (International Tennis Federation) Women’s Circuit event taking place in Antalya, Turkey.
The seeded Czech showed brilliant skills to outrun Gaidarzhi in their first encounter. She needed an hour to overpower the teenager and secure a place in the round of 16 at this outdoor clay court event.
Kramperova made a comfortably entry at the Go Tennis Academy. She smoothly kept her entire serves and levelled the scores at 4-4. The Czech then got the breakthrough and eventually sealed the opener by winning six games to four. She was never challenged
with any breakpoint and cashed the lone break chance to inch towards her goal.
Ranked 350th in the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Premier Rankings, Kramperova moved up a gear in the proceeding set. She wiped out four games in a row before Gaidarzhi could come on the score sheet. The Czech held her composure and clinched
the set with a breadstick after pocketing the last two games. She fended off all three breakpoints she encountered and cashed three out of four break opportunities to move a step closer towards her goal.
Summing up performance of the 23-year-old, Kramperova spilled fewer unforced errors and hammered more aces. She also clobbered a better first serve share and ruled throughout the battle.
Next up for Kramperova is the Canadian starlet, Elisabeth Fournier, who thrashed the German wildcard entrant, Jasmin Jebawy, in straight sets to progress at this event.
The Swedish qualifier, Ellen Allgurin, also earned the limelight later that day. She bounced back to formulate a 6-7(2), 6-2, 7-5 score line against the Croatian challenger, Silvia Njiric, to advance. Allgurin lost the opening set after edging out in the
tie-breaker. However, she found her rhythm afterwards and subsequently booked a place in the second round.
Allgurin will next face the winner of the match between second seed Ksenia Kirillova and the Romanian qualifier, Ioana Loredana Rosca.
