Katerina manages to find her way to the top podium position during the Trek USGP of Cyclocross Deschutes Brewery Cup 2012, Elite Winner category.
Team Luna Pro cyclist rode brilliantly throughout the event and was not challenged by any one, her teammate Georgia Gould was the only real competition she had to face during the race.
She finished the race in a total time 46 minutes and 17 seconds and restricted her major opponents, to bag an important victory this weekend
“I've always done really well here in Oregon,” Nash said. “I did really well back in Portland when the race would go there. I don't know what it is about Oregon, but I've had good luck here”.
She admired her teammate, Georgia Gould and noted that she gave her tough time and it was not easy to get through her.
“Every time I rode behind Georgia I made a mistake. So finally I went around and picked up the pace a little bit. I hoped to drop Georgia, but she's a very strong racer, and she stayed behind super close until the end,” Nash noted.
Once she came in front, it was easy business for the Czech as she finished the race 13 seconds ahead of her American teammate, Gould.
Caroline Mani of Team Raleigh Clement finished 1 minute and 2 seconds behind the race leader at the third position with Kaitlin Antonneau of Team Exergy Twenty 12 and Amanda Miller of Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies securing the fourth and the fifth
positions respectively.
“I don't know how many laps we had, but when I saw three laps [to go], I thought oh my gosh, I'm going to die,” said Mani.
Elle Anderson of Team Ladies First Racing, Mical Dyck of Team Stan’s NoTubes, Teal Stetson-Lee (USA) Luna Pro Team, Meredith Miller (USA) California Giant Berry Farms and Nicole Duke (USA) Alchemy achieved the sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions
respectively.
First runner up, Gould stated that she made a few mistakes and so did her teammate Nash but once she left an open gap, it was way too late to stop Katerina.
