Katerine Savard occupies Women’s 100m butterfly gold: Day four - 2012 Canada Swimming Cup
Katerine Savard of Club de natation C.S.Q. occupied gold medal of the Women’s 100m butterfly on concluding day of the 2012 Canada Swimming Cup in Montreal on Sunday, July 8.
Savard lived up to the expectations of her supporters as she displayed her relentless efforts for the title of the double lap butterfly event.
The 19-year-old Savard was the only swimmer to post a sub one minute effort and faced no trouble in occupying gold medal of the discipline. She remained full body length ahead of her following challenger and tapped the finishing end with the timing of 59.56
seconds for gold medal.
The champion remained 1.01 seconds faster from Audrey Lacroix of Ppo, who proved her mettle for silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 1 minute and 00.57 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Lindsay Delmar of University of Calgary Swim Club, who stayed 0.72 seconds away from upsetting her foregoing finisher and secured bronze medal of the event by submitting an effort of 1 minute and 01.29 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was obtained by Sandrine Mainville of Ppo, who stayed 0.42 seconds apart and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 1 minute and 01.71 seconds.
The 19-year-old Mainville was chased by Sherry Patel of Mississauga Aquatic Club, who remained just two strokes slower from her preceding swimmer and finished her race in a time of 1 minute and 02.08 seconds for fifth position.
Similarly, Patel was chased by Elodie Delamare of Ppo, who stayed 0.67 seconds apart and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 1 minute and 02.75 seconds for sixth position.
Delamare was chased by Patel’s teammate, Nicolette Goncalves, who clocked an effort of 1 minute and 03.20 seconds for seventh position.
Eighth spot of the event was obtained by Frederique Cigna of Camo, who stayed 0.04 seconds slower from her former finisher and posted an effort of 1 minute and 03.24 seconds.
Savard was happy after her victory in the 100m discipline and shared her desire of achieving the same at higher level of swimming.
