Katerine Savard secures Women’s 200m butterfly gold – Swimming news
Katerine Savard of CSQ secured a gold medal in the Women’s 200m butterfly on opening day of the 2013 CA TYR Fran Crippen Memorial in Mission Viejo Nadadores, California on Friday, June 7.
The 20-year-old Savard demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the 200m discipline and cruised her way towards the finishing end for gold medal.
With her notable efforts, she stayed in a prominent lead over her supporters and tapped the wall for the title with an effort of 2 minutes and 09.36 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Katie McLaughlin of Mission Viejo-CA, who was two body lengths slower from her foregoing finisher and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 11.15 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Thomas Noemie of UBC Dolphins, who was only an inch behind and completed the podium by winning bronze medal of the race with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.53 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Haley Anderson of Trojan-CA, who was almost 1.80 seconds behind and settled on the finishing end for fourth place by posting a time of 2 minutes and 13.32 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Tristin Baxter of Unat-ASU-AZ, who was 1.14 seconds slower and hit the finishing end by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 14.46 seconds.
Subsequently, Baxter was chased by Olivia Barker of Sandpipers-CA, who was 2.03 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and emerged on the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.49 seconds.
Seventh finest spot of the event was obtained by Mandy Barnes of Mission Viejo-CA, who was 2.40 seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 18.89 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Rachel Heaney of Unat-BY-SR, who was just 0.03 seconds slower and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.92 seconds.
In addition, Savard received a huge round of applause from the audience for her commendable pace in the distant butterfly discipline while the winners collected medals after the race.
