Katharine Ross secures Women’s 100m breaststroke gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Iowa City
Katharine Ross of Central Iowa Aquatics secured gold medal of the Women’s 100m breaststroke on third day of the USA Swimming Sectionals at the University of Iowa Aquatic Center in Iowa City on Saturday, July 21.
Ross met expectations of her challengers in the double lap breaststroke discipline as she occupied gold medal of the event.
With her astonishing effort, she remained just a touch away from her following swimmer and reached the finishing blockade for gold medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 11.26 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Imelda C Wistey of Des Moines Swimming, who remained 0.10 seconds apart and earned second position of the event by clocking a time of 1 minute and 11.36 seconds.
The silver medallist was trailed by Samantha K Pochowski of Southwest Aquatics, who suffered a loss of just 0.26 seconds from her former finisher and secured bronze medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 1 minute and 11.62 seconds.
Pochowski was chased by Lauren R Greenberg of Minnesota Aquatics, who remained almost half body length behind and ended fourth in the event by producing a time 1 minute and 12.34 seconds.
The 21-year-old Greenberg was chased by Riley M Hayward of New Trier Swim Club, who stayed 0.34 seconds apart and secured fifth position of the event by clocking a time of 1 minute and 12.68 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the event was secured by Shea A Hoyt of St Charles Swim Team, who was 1.04 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 13.72 seconds.
Hoyt was traced by Moriah C Ross of Central Iowa Aquatics, who stayed half body length behind and secured seventh position of the event with the timing of 1 minute and 14.39 seconds.
Ross was chased by Marley S Suckow of Cyclone Swim Club, who ended her sprint in eighth best place by clocking a time of 1 minute and 14.62 seconds.
Ross was contented with her accomplishment and stated that she would continue her hard work to achieve the same at higher levels of swimming.
