Katherine Hull eyes title at CN Canadian Women's Open 2012
Australian Katherine Hull, who won the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open in an impressive style, is in the field of this year’s edition, and looks confident to repeat her past performance once again.
The tournament is scheduled to be played from August 20-26 at The Vancouver Golf Club, and is expected to stage a pitched battle among top-ranked LPGA (Ladies professional Golf Association) stars.
Katherine will be trying to atone for past lapses at Vancouver, as she has been struggling to improve her position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
The Australian star is well aware of the possible resistance in the coming battle, but she appears to have made up her mind about mending her way.
Analysts said that beating rivals at the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 may not be as easy as most of the players think, because Asian players are expected to trouble other contenders in the roster.
Hull, a professional since 2003, boasts a solid profile, yet she does not appear to be complacent at all — especially after a decrease in her position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Currently ranked 50th in the world, Hull is trying to revamp her game as the growing competition on the LPGA Tour has prompted players to boost their positions.
As for the possible resistance at Vancouver, there will be plenty of prominent players who are regarded as hot favourite for the coveted title.
On top of the list is American Brittany Lincicome, who is the defending champion of the tournament. Lincicome is being regarded as the hot favourite for the prestigious title but repeating the last-year performance will not be easy for her.
Analysts said that the American star might have displayed a stunning performance at the last edition of the CN Canadian Women’s Open, but the presence of current world number one Yani Tseng and South Korean Na Yeon Choi will make it difficult to stay strong on course.
Lincicome appeared to be in high spirits last year. “To win this event, I felt good coming into the week, but not super great or anything. You just never know with golf. It was cool to finally check that off my list of things to do, I guess”.
