Seeded 15th , Krista Hardebeck received a crushing straight sets upset at the hands of Kathinka Von Deichmann in the first round of juniors’ US Open Championships 2012. The Liechtenstein contestant
gave her opponent a straight sets upset, 6-1, 6-2 on the Monday evening.
In the opening set, Deichmann effortlessly made her way to win the set. She took hold of the situation and marked her 3-0 lead. By the fourth game, the 17-year-old American secured a single game and brought the scores line
to 3-1. Deichmann broke her rivals serve in the second last match and clinched her 6-1 win.
The following set had a similar pattern as before but this time the American professional moved forth in the set with a faster pace. By the fifth game, she brought the scores to 2-3; however, she could not contest any further
and lost the set with a 2-6 score.
Anna Danilina rallies past Louisa Chirico 6-4, 6-4
Ranked 473 in the WTA Premier Rankings, Anna Danilina battled past Louisa Chirico and qualified for the second round of the Girls’ Singles category at the Grand Slam event. The Kazakh participant gave her opponent a straight
sets defeat, 6-4, 6-4, on the eve of Monday.
Ninth seeded, Danilina picked a slow start in the initial set but immediately squared the scores to 1-1 by the end of the second game. Both the players were unable to retain their serves afterwards and the opening set witnessed
a series of repeated break points. The 16-year-old American gradually tried to build up her pace and by the sixth game, she brought the score line to 2-4. However, the underdog was unable to sustain the pressure and her pace quickly declined. This gave the
Kazakhprofessional a chance to clinch the win, marking the first set at 6-4.
In the next set, the sport proved to be tougher challenge for Danilina. Initially, the contest progressed forward with a similar pattern, displaying repeated break points spread throughout the set. The American participant
levelled the score line to 2-all in the fourth game and 3-all by the end of sixth game. Nonetheless, she was never able to prevail over Danilina, who took hold of the alarming situation and wrapped up the set with a 6-4 score.
