Kathle Ledecky claims Women’s 1500m freestyle crown: 2011 USA Swimming Long Course Junior Nationals

Kathe Ledecky of Curl Burke Swim impressed the arena on day five of the 2011 USA Swimming Long Course Junior Nationals, in Paloalto, California, on Friday, August 12. The session of the meet conducted Women’s 1500m and 50m freestyle finals.
Initially, Ledecky hit the wall in 16 minutes and 24.46 seconds to win the gold medal. Rebecca Mann of Clearwater Aquat picked silver medal on the podium by posting a winning time of 16 minutes and 38.26 seconds, while Jessica Wolf of Waukesha Express earned
bronze medal with an impressive time of 16 minutes and 41.72 seconds.
In the corresponding meet, Daniell Valley of Sarasota YMCA was placed fourth with a time of 16 minutes and 44.69 seconds and Nicole Chang of La Mirada Armada rounded out the top five in a time of 16 minutes and 52.38 seconds. Ashley Neidigh of Bolles School
was placed sixth with a mark of 16 minutes and 53.26 seconds, while Elizab Stinson of Nashville Aquati picked seventh spot with a time of 16 minutes and 53.77 seconds.
Daniela Rueda of Hydroquatics earned eighth place honours with a mark of 16 minutes and 54.59 seconds. Morgan Flynn of Nashville Aquati grabbed ninth spot with a time of 16 minutes and 55.36 seconds, whereas, Jordan Hancock of First Colony Swi earned tenth
position in a time of 16 minutes and 55.65 seconds.
In the meantime, the Women’s 50m freestyle crown was taken over by Faith Johnson of Star Aquatics with a winning mark of 25.83 seconds. Evan Swenson of Nasa Wildcat Aqu and Mimi Schneider of Academy Bullets took home the silver medal on the podium by posting
a matching time of 26.13 seconds.
In the corresponding race, Jasmine Tosky of Palo Alto Stanfo was placed fourth with a mark of 26.14 seconds and Mary Pelton of North Baltimore rounded out the top five in a time of 26.28 seconds. Lindsey Engel of Irvine Novaquati was placed sixth in a time
of 26.46 seconds, while Katrin Konopka of Spartaqautics earned seventh place honours with an impressive mark of 24.47 seconds.
Abigail Speers of Machine Aquatics earned eighth spot in a time of 26.50 seconds. Harper Bruens of Team Fla and Grace Carlson of Lake Oswego Swim settled in a tie for ninth place with a matching time of 26.78 seconds.
