Kathleen Ledecky captures Women’s 800m freestyle gold: Day four – 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim
Kathleen Ledecky of Curl Burke Swim captured gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle on day four of the 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte on Sunday, May 13.
The 15-year-old Ledecky demonstrated her notable efforts in the sixteen-lap freestyle discipline and sprinted her way towards the finishing end for gold medal.
Her astounding effort remained more than three body lengths ahead of her following swimmer and ensured her place on the top of podium for gold medal by posting a time of 8 minutes and 25.85 seconds.
Her gold claiming effort remained nearly eleven seconds faster from Gillian Ryan of North Baltimore, who failed to overpower the gold medallist and touched the wall with a nice timing of 8 minutes and 36.56 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Elizabeth Beisel of Bluefish Swim-NE, who was nearly full body length behind and emerged on the victory stand for bronze medal by producing an impressive time of 8 minutes and 37.40 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Ashley Twichell of Mission Viejo-CA, who was just 1.08 seconds slower from securing her spot on the podium and ended fourth by submitting a time of 8 minutes and 38.48 seconds.
Twichell was chased by Andreina Pinto of Gator Swim Club, who was 2.28 seconds away and reported a time of 8 minutes and 40.76 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth spot of the discipline was secured by Amber McDermott of Una ABSC-GA, who ended her swim in sixth best place by touching the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 42.32 seconds.
Seventh best position was secure by Brittany MacLean of Etobicoke, who was 0.11 seconds apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 42.43 seconds.
MacLean remained 1.16 seconds slower from Camryne Morris of North Baltimore, who finished her swim in eighth place by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 43.59 seconds.
In addition, the arena acknowledged meticulous efforts of all participants while the position holders were raked medals and accolades for their wonderful swims after the session.
