Kathleen Ledecky secures Women’s 500 yards freestyle gold – AT&T Winter National Championships
Kathleen Ledecky of NCAPPV secured gold medal of the Women’s 500 yards freestyle on opening day of the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, TX, USA on Thursday, November 29.
Ledecky smothered hopes of her opponents in the playoff of the 500 yard discipline and transpired on the finishing end for the crown.
With her stupendous efforts in the final round, Ledecky faced no trouble in defending her fastest qualification spot of the race, as she touched the wall for gold medal with an effort of 4 minutes and 34.53 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Haley Anderson of USC-CA, who stayed two and a half body lengths behind and surfaced on the finishing end as second best finisher by touching the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 36.87 seconds.
Anderson was followed by Leah Smith of JCCSAM, who stayed 0.03 second slower from improving her position and touched the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 36.90 seconds.
Smith was traced by Ashley Steenvoorden of UN01MN, who stayed considerably slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for fourth place by producing a time of 4 minutes and 41.55 seconds.
Fifth spot of the race was obtained by Kelsey Leneave of UT-ST, who stayed nearly 1.80 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end by touching the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 43.31 seconds.
Leneave was chased by Lindsay Vrooman of IU-IN, who stayed 0.04 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing blockade for sixth position by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 43.35 seconds.
Vrooman remained 1.57 seconds faster from Bonnie Brandon of ZONAAZ, who remained prominent for seventh position of the race by touching the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 44.92 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Kaitlin Pawlowicz of UT-ST, who stayed 0.82 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 45.74 seconds.
Furthermore, Ledecky was overjoyed with her effort and raked medal after the event.
