Katie Douglas, Jessica Davenport, Sophia Young: Top WNBA players from 28th June games – Part 1
Three games took place in Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) on Tuesday, June 28, 2011.
At Conseco Fieldhouse, the Indiana Fever edged past Phoenix Mercury 91-86 and won their fourth consecutive game of the season. Fever shot at 53 percent from the field and also snapped the four-game winning streak of Mercury.
In the second game of the night, the San Antonio Silver Stars keyed by an all round attack beat Chicago Sky 84-74 at Allstate Arena. With this third straight victory, the Silver Stars improved to a 7-1 season record and jumped
to the top of both the conferences. In the last game, Connecticut Sun left it till late to knock out the shorthanded Los Angeles Sparks 79-76 at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Game 1: Indiana Fever vs. Phoenix Mercury
Katie Douglas
For the second game in a row, Katie Douglas was simply magnificent. The 32-year-old followed up her 22-point effort against Minnesota Lynx, with a 26 points and six rebounds blitz on Tuesday night. The veteran player shot 9 for
15 from the field, including six daggers from the three point range, matching the franchise record for 3-pointers for a third time this month. She scored 18 of her points in the second half of the game as Indiana just managed to hold on to a win.
Jessica Davenport
Jessica Davenport’s career-high 25 points ensured that the Fever cross the line. The 26-year-old player was in hot shooting form and nailed 10 for 11 shots from the field. She also canned 5 of 7 free throws and also blocked three
shots. Teammate Catchings acknowledged the sizzling performance of Davenport and said, “She's a dominant force down there," "When you get behind her, it is hard to block her shots. It's hard to get in front of her."
Tamika Catchings
Forward Tamika Catchings contributed 14 points, seven assists, five rebounds, four steals and three blocks in the Indiana’s win.
DeWanna Bonner
DeWanna Bonner notched 15 points for Mercury. However, the efforts of the guard were just not enough on the night.
Game 2: San Antonio Silver Stars vs. Chicago Sky
Sophia Young
Sophia Young topped five San Antonio players in double figures as the Silver Star hung tough down the stretch to beat Chicago. The 27-year-old player scored 19 points and clutched nine rebounds in 31 plus minutes. Young also pinned
5 of 6 free throws.
Danielle Adams
Rookie Danielle Adams came off the bench with 16 points on a 6 for 11shooting from the field. The 6-foot-1 centre also finished with three blocks and two rebounds in the ten-point victory.
