Katie Douglas, Tamika Catchings, Crystal Langhorne: Top WNBA players from September 8 game
Only one game took place in Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) on Wednesday, September 7, 2011.
Indiana Fever clinched the best record in the Eastern Conference with an 87-69 win over the slumping Washington Mystics at Conseco Fieldhouse in front of 8,514 basketball fans. The Mystics played well in the first half of the game
and carried a 37-36 lead into the locker room. However, Indiana turned it on in the second half and outscored the visiting team 51-32, winning 21st game of this season.
Indiana coach Lin Dunn acknowledged the brilliant performance of her team during the last two quarters of the game and said, “I felt like in the second half, I thought you saw a really tough Fever team.” “We took it up another
notch and really turned it on in the second half.”

Katie Douglas
Katie Douglas netted a game-high 21 points in the second consecutive victory for Indiana. The veteran guard forward dished out five assist, grabbed four rebounds and stole the ball twice in more than 34 minutes. The four-time WNBA
All-Star scored 12 of her points in the second half as Indiana held the Mystics under control. Douglas ended the game on 7 for 14 shooting from the field, hitting 2 for 6 from three-point range, and 5 for 6 from free throw line.
“I am just staying aggressive,” Douglas said. “I am trying to get myself ready for the playoffs and not taking a back seat.''
Tamika Catchings
Tamika Catchings recorded a double-double in Indiana’s fifth consecutive victory against the Mystics. Catchings scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She shot 5 for 10 from the floor and 6 for 7 from free throw line.
Tammy Sutton-Brown
Tammy Sutton-Brown posted a season-high 15 points for the Fever. The 33-year-old centre pulled down seven rebounds, blocked five crucial shots and stole the ball twice. Sutton-Brown went 7 for 10 from the field.
Erin Phillips
Indiana’s guard Erin Phillips totalled 13 points, grabbed four rebounds and dealt out two assists in 25 minutes of action. The player hit 4 for 11 from the floor and pinned 4 of 6 free throws for her team.
Crystal Langhorne
Crystal Langhorne registered a double-double in the third consecutive defeat for the Mystics. The 6 ft 2 in forward punctuated 18 points, including 10 of them in the second half, and grabbed a game best 15 rebounds in the losing
effort. The Willingboro High School’s product went 8 for 14 from the field.
