Katie Douglas leads Indiana Fever to an 83-68 win over Washington Mystics – WNBA Recap
Katie Douglas’s 18 point performance on Tuesday night helped Indiana Fever make their way to an easy 83-68 win over Washington Mystics and helped them get one step closer to secure the top spot in the Eastern
Conference.
Tamika Catchings provided equal support in the game with 17 points and 5 rebounds while also dishing out 5 assists. Jessica Davenport came off the bench for 16 and Shavonte Zellous chipped in 13 points.
On the other hand, both of Washington did not have any starter in double scoring figures. Noelle Quinn chipped in 13 points while Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton contributed 10 points to lead the way.
Head Coach Lin Dunn was satisfied at the team performance;
“We came out much better in the second half,'' Dunn said. ``We won the boards again. We are getting continued help from our bench. We are definitely benefiting from the Olympic break.''
Both sides got off to good start and there was nothing to separate them in the early goings. Washington held a 3 point lead with 2:08 remaining in the first period but a 8-0 run from Indiana saw them turn the
balance around and take a 22-17 advantage. However, the second quarter saw Washington crawl their way back to tie the game up at 25 each.

Things remained closed for the remaining time in the first half but Indiana were able to cope up slightly better courtesy of Douglas’s exploits from long range which helped the Fever to take a 43-37 lead before
heading into the interval.
With 5:37 remaining in the third period, Indiana had prolonged their advantage into double figures courtesy of a 5-0 run capped off with a bank shot by Davenport. And they never looked back in the game as they
took a 10 point lead going into the final quarter.
A 9-4 run to start the fourth period saw the Fever further extend their advantage. Washington tried hard to catch up, but simply didn’t have the resources to break a sturdy Indiana side, which also won the battle
of rebounds 29-23.
