Katie Dull made the list in All-Big Ten
Katie Dull, senior outside hitter of Ohio State University was selected to be in the list of the 2010 All-Big Ten Team after a vote by the conference coaches. The selection was made after assessing the performance in the conference play. Dull is the only
player from Ohio State to make it to the All-Big Ten Team list this season.
Dull is a repeat selection from 2009. She averaged team highs of 3.98 points and 3.46 kills per set in conference action. This brought her rank to eighth and sixth respectively. Dull’s average number of blocks per set stood at .55 while making 3.46 kills
per set. She also averaged team highs of 3.98 points.
2010 volleyball season has proved to be a good one for senior Katie Dull so far with quite a lot of achievements to her credit. She was named to the Kentucky Classic All-Tournament Team as well as the Most Valuable Player of the Madison Bingaman Memorial.
Apart from this, she was also named in the Kennesaw State Owl Invitational All-Tournament Team. Top of the list was her selection as the Athlete of the Week for Ohio State.
Dull has had a shinning career as a freshman, sophomore and junior as well. As a junior in 2007, she was named as the Ohio State Athlete of the Week for her play against Youngstown State as well as the Ohio State Scholar Athlete. When Dull was a sophomore
in 2008 she was again selected to be the Ohio State Scholar Athlete. Other than that, she made it to the Academic All-Big Ten list too. Dull’s Big Ten Conference statistics were as follows: ranked fourth in kills per game at 3.95 and fifth in points per game
at 4.5. Other than that, Dull was also named to the Sports Imports Classic All-Tournament Team.
Katie Dull was able to achieve similar titles in season 2009. Her additional achievements included being made a part of American Volleyball Coaches Association Midwest All-Region Team, named William & Mary Tribe Invitational Most Valuable Player, a part
of Colorado State Hilton Classic All-Tournament Team and UW-Milwaukee Panther Invitational All-Tournament Team. Dull also became the 17th Buckeye to record 1,000 kills at Iowa.
Other than sports Katie Dull likes going to movies and hanging out with friends. She works with individuals in the dementia unit as a volunteer at the Light of Hearts Villa Retirement Community. Dull expresses her feelings concerning Ohio State in the following
words: “It just felt right. I came on a visit and fell in love with the environment. Everybody completely supports the University and its athletics, the school spirit is unmatched by any other university in the country."
Katie Dull had an integral part to play in the pivotal and intense match that took place between Ohio State and Dayton on Saturday night at the Frericks Center in the second round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association 2010 Volleyball Tournament.
Much of the credit of winning the first two sets against Dayton goes to Dull who pulled an ace and made 11 kills.
All through the match which was the most intense one yet in the NCAA tournament, Dull was able to perform at her best. She was named the star performer from Ohio State. Dull made the highest number of kills in the match, which totaled 25.
