Katie Hoff and Matt McLean dominate swimming events at the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet
Katie Hoff and Matt McLean dominated their swimming events on third day of the 2011 Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions. Hoff of FAST-CA conquered the title of the Women’s 200m freestyle, while McLean of Snow-PV occupied the gold medal of the same
event in the Men’s category.
The session concluded after the finals of the 200m freestyle, 200m breast-stroke and the 50m freestyle in the Men’s and Women’s category.
The first event of the session was the Women’s 200m freestyle, where Hoff was undisputed in the four-lap swim and claimed the gold medal of the event in a superb time of 1 minute and 58.08 seconds. His effort was almost two seconds quicker than his subsequent
swimmer, Chloe Sutton, who touched the wall for silver medal, by posting a time of 2 minutes and 00.42 seconds. Sutton was only 0.14 seconds away from his closest competitor, Whitney Myers, who settled on the podium for the bronze medal with an astounding
effort of 2 minutes and 00.56 seconds.
Subsequently, 23-year-old Mclean clinched the title of the Men’s equivalent event, by posting a time of 1 minute and 49.68 seconds. He was 0.30 seconds faster than his following competitor, Tyler T Clary, who touched the wall for second position, by clocking
a time of 1 minute and 49.98 seconds. Blake Worsley of Canada followed him on the finishing wall, by clocking a time of 1 minute and 50.47 seconds.
Next was the Women’s 200m breast-stroke, where UNA-CA’s Yuliya Efimova pocketed the title of the event, by touching the wall in a fantastic time of 2 minutes and 23.66 seconds. He was followed by Jillian D Tyler of Minn-MN, who was almost five seconds behind
him and touched the wall for silver medal in a time of 2 minutes and 28.65 seconds. They were followed by Tyler’s team-member, Haley Spencer, who finished his swim in a third best time of 2 minutes and 29.30 seconds.
Kosuke Kitajima of Japan appeared on the podium for the gold medal of 200m breast-stroke, where he clocked a time of 2 minutes and 11.02 seconds for the gold crown. He was followed by Mike Brown of UCSC, who posted a time of 2 minutes and 15.75 seconds for
the silver medal. Andrew P Bree of TROJ-CA was almost two seconds slower than Brown and touched the wall in a third fastest time of 2 minutes and 17.90 seconds for the bronze finish.
The session concluded after the phenomenal efforts of international swimmers in their respective events, where the winners received medals for their impeccable swims.
