Katie Ledecky wins Women’s 1650 yards freestyle gold – AT&T Winter National Championships
Katie Ledecky of NCAPPV won gold medal of the Women’s 1650 yards freestyle on third day of the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, TX, USA on Saturday, December 1.
Ledecky demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the distant freestyle event, as she remained dominant over her opponents and raked the title.
With her notable efforts in the race, Ledecky remained almost 75 yards ahead of her toughest challenger and transpired on the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 15 minutes and 28.36 seconds.
The champion was followed by Haley Anderson of USC-CA, who was nearly half a minute slower from her and reached the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 15 minutes and 55.91 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Lindsay Vrooman of IU-IN, who was 0.90 seconds apart and completed the podium by winning bronze medal with an effort of 15 minutes and 56.81 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Ashley Steenvoorden of UN01MN, who was 6.07 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and emerged on the end by clocking a time of 16 minutes and 02.88 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Rachael Burnett of WVU-WV, who stayed 7.04 second away from her competitors and touched the wall with a timing of 16 minutes and 09.92 seconds.
Similarly, Burnett was traced by Kaitlin Pawlowicz of UT-ST, who was only 0.04 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall for sixth position by clocking a time of 16 minutes and 09.96 seconds.
Pawlowicz was followed by Kelsey Leneave of UT-ST, who was 5.56 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with a timing of 16 minutes and 15.52 seconds for seventh place.
Leneave was followed by Megan Byrnes of NCAPPV, who stayed 0.07 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 16 minutes and 15.59 seconds.
In addition, Ledecky was happy with her top finish in the race and stressed that she would try hard to accomplish the same at superior levels of swimming events.
