Katinka Hosszu and Yannick Lebherz triumph 400m IM- 2011 North Carolina Charlotte UltraSwim
Katinka Hosszu of Una TROJ-CA and Yannick Lebherz of Germany dominated the 400m Individual Medley (IM) in Women’s and Men’s category on day two of the 2011 North Carolina Charlotte UltraSwim.
The Charlotte UltraSwim is the second last stop of the 2010-2011 USA Swimming Grand Prix Series.
The 22-year-old Katinka Hosszu displayed a superior swim to claim the title of the Women’s 400m IM. Hosszu clocked a time of 4:45.57 minutes to earn the gold medal and her time was only 0.49 seconds above the 2011 Shanghai World Championships A-Time
Qualification Standard.
She was followed by Indiana University-IN’s Allysa Vavra, who pocketed the silver medal clocking a time of 4:47.73 minutes. PPO Montreal’s Barbara Jardin followed them on the podium for the bronze medal by touching the wall third with a timing of 4:48.48
minutes.
Elizabeth Beisel of Bluefish SC-NE stayed two seconds slower than Jardin and finished fourth in a time of 4:50.40 minutes. Willa Wang of North Baltimore and Amy Modglin of Nittany Lion-MA emerged on the finishing wall as the fifth and sixth fastest
swimmers, posting a time of 4:53.95 and 4:54.03 minutes, respectively.
Moments later, the 22-year-old Yannick Lebherz occupied the top of the podium for the gold medal, clocking a time of 4:21.40 minutes.  William Harris of Poseidon-VA and Andrew Ford of Swim Ontario settled on the podium for the silver and bronze medal,
touching the wall in 4:23.51 and 4:27.27 minutes, respectively.
Colorado Stars-CO earned the gold medal for the Women’s 400m freestyle relay by clocking a time of 3:45.73 minutes. They were followed by Swim Ontario and TN Aquatics-SE, who occupied silver and bronze medals in a time of 3:47.93 and 3:52.83 minutes,
respectively.
In the meantime, SwimMAC Carolina-NC dominated the Men’s 400m freestyle relay in a winning time of 3:22.25 minutes. Club Wolverine-MI and Swim Ontario claimed the silver and bronze medals in 3:28.38 and 3:30.10 minutes, respectively.
The session concluded after its last event, whereas more swimming events will take place in the next two days of the championship, where swimmers will battle each other to secure a podium finish.
