Katinka Hosszu captures Women’s 800m freestyle gold – 2012 Indian Ocean Meet
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary captured gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle on concluding day of the 2012 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Sunday, December 30.
The Hungarian swimmer showed no mercy to her opponents in the distant freestyle discipline and made her way to the finishing blockade for first position.
Hosszu enjoyed a comfortable lead over her closest swimmer as she cruised her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal by touching the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 41.30 seconds.
The champion was followed by Mathilde Hoareau of France, who was 17.63 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 58.93 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Anne-laure Iscaye of France, who stayed almost 26 seconds slower from upsetting her former finisher and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by producing an effort of 9 minutes and 24.88 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Eglantine Petit of France, who tried hard to make her way to the podium but failed to overpower her former finishers over the finishing end. Petit stayed nearly six seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced
on the wall for fourth position by reporting a time of 9 minutes and 34.51 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was secured by Sarah Clain of France, who was almost half a minute slower from outsmarting her preceding swimmer and ended her race in a time of 10 minutes and 01.61 seconds.
Subsequently, Clain was chased by Anne-Margaux Cadarsi of France, who was 14.10 seconds behind and sprinted her way towards the finishing end for sixth place by ending her swim in a time of 10 minutes and 15.71 seconds.
Cadarsi was chased by Annaelle Rungasamy, who stayed considerably slower from her preceding finishers and ended her race in seventh place by touching the wall with the timing of 12 minutes and 24.12 seconds.
Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the victory ceremony of the tournament.
