Katinka Hosszu clinches Women’s 800m freestyle gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary clinched gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle on foremost day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, October 2.
The Hungarian swimmer remained considerably ahead of her opponents in the distant freestyle discipline and paved her way to the medal rostrum for gold medal.
Hosszu remained almost two body lengths ahead of her following swimmer and transpired on the finishing end as top fastest swimmer by producing a time of 8 minutes and 31.70 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Tanja Smid of Slovenia, who stayed 1.84 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall as second best finisher by reporting a time of 8 minutes and 33.54 seconds.
The second position holder was trailed by Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary, who stayed nearly 4.60 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 38.15 seconds for bronze medal.
Jakabos was chased by Spela Bohinc of Slovenia, who stayed four and a half body lengths behind and settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by submitting a time of 8 minutes and 42.72 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Moriah Simonds of USA, who remained considerably slower from her preceding swimmer and surfaced on the wall with a timing of 8 minutes and 59.22 seconds.
Simonds was traced by Rachel Marjorie Tseng of Singapore, who remained 6.09 seconds apart and tapped the wall with an effort of 9 minutes and 05.31 seconds for sixth place.
Subsequently, Tseng remained eight seconds ahead of Rachel Knowles of USA, who was 8.10 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 9 minutes and 13.41 seconds for seventh spot.
Last position of the race was followed by Anouque Berghuis, who failed to overpower any of her fellow swimmers and finished eighth in the race.
Berghuis remained almost full body length slower from her foregoing finisher and clocked a time of 9 minutes and 14.23 seconds.
In addition, Hosszu expressed happiness over her victory and raked medal for her alluring performance after the event.
