Katinka Hosszu grabs Women’s 200m IM gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary grabbed gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on initial day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, October 2.
The Hungarian swimmer spoiled the party of her opponents on initial day of the competition, as she gathered her third title of the evening.
Hosszu went full rampant in the 200m discipline and transpired on the finishing blockade for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 10.53 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary, who stayed nearly one body length behind and surfaced on the wall for silver medal by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 11.42 seconds.
The second position holder was trailed by Anna Dzerkal of Ukraine, who stayed 0.37 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall as third best finisher by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 11.79 seconds.
Dzerkal was traced by Kathryn Meaklim of South Africa, who stayed 1.61 seconds apart and tapped the wall for fourth position by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 13.40 seconds.
Fifth best qualification spot of the race was obtained by Jordis Steinegger of Austria, who suffered a loss of almost two body lengths from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 15.26 seconds.
Steinegger was chased by Joline Hoestman of Sweden, who was 0.33 seconds apart and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 15.59 seconds for sixth place.
Subsequently, Hoestman was followed by Kin Lok Chan of Hong Kong, who stayed 0.71 seconds away from upsetting her preceding swimmer and emerged on the finishing end for seventh place by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 16.30 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Moriah Simonds of USA, who remained more than half a pool length slower from her former finisher and reported a time of 2 minutes and 31.88 seconds.
Hosszu was extremely delighted with her title claiming effort in the IM discipline and collected medal for her performance after the event.
