Katinka Hosszu occupies Women’s 200m breaststroke gold – 2013 Indian Ocean Meet
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary occupied gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke on final day of the 2013 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Sunday, December 30.
The Hungarian swimmer remained prominent over her opponents throughout the discipline and proved her eligibility for gold medal.
With her astonishing pace, she remained in a considerable lead over her challengers and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 28.52 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Geraldine Huffner of France, who stayed almost three seconds behind and touched the wall for silver medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 31.75 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Rachel Mussard of France, who stayed considerably slower from her foregoing finisher and cruised her way towards the finishing end for bronze medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 48.73 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Maud Fuchs of France, who tried hard to improve her position in the playoff and reach the podium but was unable to do so. Fuchs remained nearly 5.50 seconds away from upsetting her former finisher and transpired on the finishing end for fourth best place by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 54.31 seconds.
Similarly, the audience saw gruelling efforts of Tatianavalona Andrianivohery, who proved her eligibility for fifth best place in the final round as she clocked a timing of 3 minutes and 02.81 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Vick Davy of France, who stayed 4.08 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and cruised her way towards the finishing end by concluding her race in a time of 3 minutes and 06.89 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Oria Rakotozafy, who was only 0.18 seconds away from overpowering her former finisher and emerged on the finishing end for seventh position by touching the wall with the timing of 3 minutes and 07.06 seconds.
Furthermore, Hosszu was extremely overjoyed with her gold finish in the race and received medals and accolades at the victory ceremony of the tournament.
