Katinka Hosszu occupies Women’s 200m butterfly gold – 2012 European SC Swimming Championships
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary occupied gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on initial day of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Thursday, November 22.
Hosszu, who clinched gold medal of the 200m IM earlier at the tournament, continued her stupendous efforts in the distant butterfly discipline and raked the title.
With her impeccable pace, she remained two arm-strokes ahead of her toughest competitors and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 05.78 seconds.
The gold medallist was traced by Italian swimmer, Stefania Pirozzi, who remained 0.31 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 06.09 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Alessia Polieri of Italy, who stayed 0.54 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing end for bronze medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 06.63 seconds.
The third position holder was traced by Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary, who failed to reach the podium and ended her pace in fourth place by tapping the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 08.74 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Martina van Berkel of Switzerland, who stayed 0.10 seconds away from her preceding swimmer and reached the finishing end by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 08.84 seconds.
Berkel was traced by Lea Giraudon of France, who stayed one and a half body length slower from her foregoing finisher completed her race in sixth place by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 10.21 seconds.
Giraudon was traced by Birgit Koschischek of Austria, who stayed 0.60 seconds slower from her and hit the finishing end for seventh position by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 10.81 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Melisa Akarsu of Turkey, who stayed 1.10 seconds apart and completed her race in a time of 2 minutes and 11.91 seconds.
Furthermore, Hosszu raked medal for her notable form after the race.
