Katinka Hosszu pocketed Women’s 400m IM title – 2012 FINA Swimming World Cup, Berlin
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on second day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Berlin, Germany on Sunday, October 21.
The Hungarian swimmer demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the distant IM discipline. Hosszu, who clinched seven gold medals each at the first two stops of the World Cup Series, went full rampant in the 16-lap discipline and secured the title.
With her impeccable pace, Hosszu remained in a full body length lead over her closest competitor and transpired on the finishing wall for the title by posting a time of 4 minutes and 28.88 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by compatriot, Zsuzsanna Jakabos, who was 0.90 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall as second best finisher with timings of 4 minutes and 29.78 seconds.
The silver medallist was traced by Rebecca Mann of USA, who stayed considerably slower from her but succeeded in securing third position by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 37.03 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Jordis Steinegger of Austria, who was three and a half body length behind and surfaced on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer by posting a time of 4 minutes and 40.57 seconds.
Fifth spot of the race was gained by Katrine Holm Soerensen of Denmark, who stayed more than full body length behind and posted a time of 4 minutes and 41.78 seconds.
Subsequently, Soerensen remained only a stroke ahead of Rongrong Zheng of China, who finished her race in sixth best place by producing a time of 4 minutes and 42.00 seconds.
Zheng was chased by f***y Lecluyse of Belgium, who remained 1.47 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 43.47 seconds.
Lecluyse was followed by Finnia Wunram, who was 2.05 seconds apart and settled on the finishing blockade as eighth fastest swimmer by reporting an effort of 4 minutes and 45.52 seconds.
In addition, Hosszu was contented with her top finish in the race and raked medals and accolades for her notable efforts after the session.
