Katinka Hosszu pockets Women’s 200m freestyle title – FINA Swimming World Cup, Singapore
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 200m freestyle on opening day of the last stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Singapore, Asia on Saturday, November 10.
Hosszu, who captured gold medal of the 800m freestyle earlier, went on a rampage in the eight-lap discipline and snared the crown of the event.
The Hungarian swimmer demonstrated her gruelling efforts in the event and surfaced on the finishing wall for gold medal by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 53.57 seconds.
Hosszu was traced by Angie Bainbridge of Australia, who stayed almost full body length apart and transpired on the finishing blockade for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 54.28 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary, who stayed 0.06 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing wall for third position by reporting an effort of 1 minute and 54.34 seconds.
Jakabos was trailed by Kelly Stubbins of Australia, who remained considerably slower from her foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by reporting an effort of 1 minute and 57.47 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Melissa Ingram of New Zealand, who stayed 0.34 seconds behind and submitted an effort of 1 minute and 57.81 seconds.
Ingram was chased by Amanda Xiang Qi Lim of Singapore, who stayed three body lengths behind and surfaced on the finishing end as sixth position holder by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 00.67 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Melanie Schlanger of Australia, who stayed just 0.01 seconds slower and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 00.68 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Yanan Zheng of China, who was unable to overwhelm any of her opponents and concluded her race in eighth place by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 02.30 seconds.
In addition, Hosszu went wild after the second gold finish in such a short time and articulated her desire of continuing the same at upcoming tournaments.
