Katinka Hosszu secures Women’s 200m butterfly title – FINA Swimming World Cup, Singapore
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary secured gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on second day of the final stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Singapore, Asia on Sunday, November 11.
The Hungarian swimmer showed no mercy to her opponents in the distant butterfly discipline and surfaced on the finishing wall for gold medal.
With her continuous efforts in the eight-lap discipline, Hosszu remained in a comfortable lead over her following rival and transpired on the finishing wall for gold medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 05.85 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Lan Liu of China, who stayed 0.76 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 06.61 seconds for silver medal.
Liu was traced by Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary, who was more than half a body length away from her former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 07.44 seconds.
The third position holder was trailed by Amanda Loots of South Africa, who remained nearly three seconds slower from Jakabos and settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 10.31 seconds.
Loots was traced by Jacqueline Staples of Australia, who was 2.09 seconds away from her and appeared on the finishing end for fifth position by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 12.40 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Alanna Bowles of Australia, who stayed 0.15 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 12.55 seconds.
Bowles was followed by Meagan Lim of Singapore, who stayed almost 10 seconds apart and concluded her race in seventh place by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 22.07 seconds.
Lim was trailed by Khar Yi Chin of Singapore, who was 3.55 seconds slower and posted a time of 2 minutes and 25.62 seconds.
In addition, Hosszu was overjoyed with her notable effort in the 200m race and stressed that she would train harder to accomplish the same at upcoming World Short Course Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
